What should I keep in mind with 360-degree videos?

Editions: Ultimate, Corporate
Versions: 4.2.0+

Since version 4.2.0 VIMP supports the playback of 360 degree videos.

360 degree videos must be prepared before uploading. More precisely, certain metadata must be added to the video to mark it as 360 degrees video.

We are following the same path that YouTube offers, so we refer you to the YouTube documentation for adding the metadata:

In addition, exiftool version 10.8 or higher must be installed on your VIMP server in order to transcode 360 degree videos:

After the update, please update the path to exiftool in the configuration under Transcoding OpenSource -> exiftool path (e.g. /opt/exiftool/exiftool), if it has changed.

On iOS devices there is currently still the restriction that 360-degree videos cannot be played back in full-screen mode.
